Hercules on Blu-ray

I've never thought these movies will ever be made into Blu-rays.
I was very excited when I found them on U.K. amazon.
Placed an order without hesitation the moment I saw it.

The image quality is indeed better than DVD as expected.
However, I was hoping they use the original  4:3 Aspect ratio.
Unfortunately they went with the 16:9 Aspect ratio,
which crops a huge chunk of the image off from the top and bottom.

They're available only in region B for the time being.

  1. nice find. Do the Blu-rays have any good extras like 'deleted scenes' ?

    1. No deleted scenes, Unfortunately.
      One trailer and main movie,
and only English audio, no subtitle.

  2. The Ferrigno Hercules films are delightfully cheesy. I have them on DVD and they are also in widescreen. I think that was how they were released in the movie theaters? Hopefully they actually made new masters from the original film and just didn't copy the DVD format over to Blu-Ray.

    1. Yes, it's a recapture from the original film, not a copy from the DVD.
However, most of the the action scenes are not very sharp comparing to the films nowadays. Old technology perhaps, or is it an outcome of low budget film.
The widescreen format is trimmed at the top and bottom, comparing to the VHS videos. Which means Lou Ferrigno's CROTCH was out of bound in many closeup scenes. Yes, I just had to share that nasty thought with you all...^_^"
